Here We Grow Again
Multiple Construction Projects Make
Way for University’s Growth
As new colleges and programs emerge and expand, multiple construction projects are underway at the University of Houston to make room for the University’s exponential growth.
UH College of Medicine
Last summer, UH College of Medicine broke ground on its future residence. Slated to open in the summer of 2022, the three-story, 130,000-square-foot building is being constructed on 43 acres at Martin Luther King Boulevard north of Old Spanish Trail. It will feature modern classrooms and meeting spaces, and state-of-the-art anatomy and simulation suites.
The John M. O’Quinn Law Building
Construction began last spring on the new $90-million law building that will reside between University Lofts and the current Law Center. The new, high-tech complex will enhance the educational experience while also serving as a hub to engage and serve the public.
McElhinney Renovation
McElhinney Hall is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation to house the re-branded and enlarged Hobby School of Public Affairs. The renovated space will include contemporary classrooms, office space, conference rooms and collaborative space.
Hilton University of Houston
This June, Hilton University of Houston kicked off construction on a new, five-story, 70-room guest tower. The estimated $30.4 million expansion will increase the hotel’s total number of rooms to 150. In summer 2022, the existing hotel will renovate 80 guest rooms, the lobby and add executive meeting space.
