UH Community Gathers for Annual Day of Remembrance

The University of Houston held its annual UH Day of Remembrance on Tuesday, March 4, in the University Chapel of A.D. Bruce Religion Center. This tradition honors the lives of faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the University who passed away in the previous year.
The ceremony provided a space for reflection and remembrance, featuring heartfelt remarks, moments of silence and symbolic candle-lighting.
Staff Council President Karl A. Hearne, Faculty Senate President Holley Love, Vice President of the Student Government Association Austin Craig and Agnes L. DeFranco, a representative from the UH Alumni Association, each lit a candle to honor those lost, representing the unity of the Cougar community in times of grief.
The service concluded with 27 chimes ringing through the chapel as a tribute to UH’s founding year and a reminder of the lasting influence of each individual on the University.
The names of those remembered during this year's ceremony are available here.
